Education Budget 2023: PM Vikas initiative aims to empower skilled people who are engaged in various traditional and skilled occupations, said FM Sitharaman

organization budget 2023 announced a unique initiative called PM Vikas or Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman, which aims to empower skilled people engaged in various traditional and skilled occupations. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that they will get support in the form of skilling, technology, credit and more.

“Vishwakarma, who traditionally worked hard for the country with his hands, is the builder of this country. For the first time a scheme related to training and support of ‘Vishwakarma’ has been brought in the budget,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the conclusion of Sitharaman’s budget speech.

The Finance Minister also announced the establishment of total 30 skills India International Center for skilling youth for international opportunities. In addition, over the next three years, the Center will recruit 38,800 teachers and support staff for 740 Eklavya Model Residential Schools to serve 3.5 lakh tribal students.

The Finance Minister has also announced setting up of a total of 157 new Nursing Colleges in collocation with the existing 157 Medical Colleges established since 2014. Selected facilities in ICMR laboratories will be made available to outsiders for research. A new program will also be launched to promote research and innovation in pharmaceuticals. Direct Benefit Transfer will be launched under the All India National Apprenticeship Scheme to support 47 lakh youth in three years.
