Six arrested for cheating US nationals through fake call centre in Goa | Goa News – Times of India

PANAJI: Crime branch of Goa police on Thursday arrested six persons from Gujarat for allegedly cheating US nationals on the pretext of approving their loans, medical billing advances, etc, through a fake call centre.
Superintendent of police (SP) crime branch Nidhin Valsan said that the accused had set up a call centre at Ribandar.
Valsan said that there is one more accused in the case who works in a bank in Gujarat and used to provide information to the other accused, who later would make the phone calls to US nationals.
Police said that they had received information that a fake call centre was being operated for many days.
Accordingly, police maintained surveillance on the accused.
Police said all the victims are US nationals, and the exact defrauded amount will be ascertained during the course of interrogation.
Police have arrested Akash, 28, son of Hiteshbhai Pancholi; Thremho. 23, son of Kechingba; Sanam, 23, son of Ringsa Bathari; Anand, 26, son of Sujeet Sengyung; Lairim, 19, son of Monmohan Hojai; and Hemring, 22, son of Sonai Girisa, all residents of Ahmedabad.
Police said that six laptops along with accessories and mobile phones, all worth Rs 10 lakh, have been seized.
