Sivakarthikeyan’s Tamil film Doctor to be released in Telugu as Varun Doctor

Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming film Doctor, which has been delayed by over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will finally release on October 9. The makers have also announced that the film will release in Telugu under the title Varun Doctor. . The medical action drama Nelson is directed by Dilipkumar and stars Vinay Rai, Yogi Babu and Priyanka Arul Mohan, making her Tamil debut. This is Nelson’s second film as a director after the black comedy Kolamavu Nightingale which released in 2018.

The film’s co-producer and distributor KJR Studios announced the changed title for the Telugu version of the film. “#Doctor grows up! Telugu audiences gear up to meet #VarunDoctor in cinemas across Andhra Pradesh from 9th October [Andhra Pradesh] and tg [Telangana]KJR Studios tweeted on September 22, sharing two posters in Telugu and English.

A medical action drama, Doctor deals with the issue of organ trafficking in the country. Sivakarthikeyan is also producing the film under his banner Sivakarthikeyan Productions. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music of the film.

Nelson had wrapped shooting for Doctor long ago, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the release by more than a year. The makers also had a theatrical release in mind, and did not want the film to premiere on OTT.

Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan has two other films in the pipeline. The 36-year-old has wrapped up shooting for Ayalan, a science fiction comedy directed by R Ravikumar. Don, an action comedy, is currently in production.

On the other hand, Nelson is currently busy with the action thriller Beast, which stars Tamil star Vijay. While the makers are targeting a Pongal 2022 release for the film, several media reports suggest that Beast may be postponed till summer as the filming will take a few more months.
