Sister rapes sister in sibling rivalry: Children suffering from dangerous problem want to kill brother and sister, jealous of animals too

Recently, in Lakhimpur, UP, an elder sister gang-raped the younger sister through her own four lovers. Then killed him. According to media reports, the elder sister was present there during this entire incident. During the gangrape, he even held the younger sister’s hand to help the accused.

Police say that the elder sister was friends with some boys of the village, due to which the younger sister used to stop. The elder sister did not like this thing at all, due to which she carried out this incident. This hostile relationship between siblings is called sibling rivalry. What is Sibling Rivalry?

Simply put, sibling means brother and sister and rivalry means enmity or competition. That is, the feeling of competition between children of the same parent, step or adopted children or cousins. This type of competition is not a healthy mindset. This is a negative tendency, in which the feeling of jealousy is greatest. That is, when you start disliking your brother and sister and start getting jealous.

Children of every country have this problem

The term sibling rivalry was first used in the 1930s but was popularized by David Levy. David Child was a psychiatrist. David would give dolls to his patient and say that these are your parents and younger siblings. Then he would tell them that if your mother will stick the younger siblings to her chest and feed them, what will you do? The result that came out in the conversation was quite surprising. The children said that they would push, shoot, throw, slap, hammer, tear, chop, crush their siblings with a truck. Some children said that they would pierce them with a screwdriver. The most important thing that David Levy said was that children of any country, society, age or gender, there was such anger inside everyone.

This feeling starts from the age of three

According to research by British psychologist and academic Judith Dunn, children become sensitive to the behavior of parents from the age of one. From 18 months, he starts understanding the rules of siblings and family. By the age of three, children begin to understand social norms and judge their relationships with their siblings. If children do not get equal love, discipline and importance from their parents, then gradually the feeling of mutual jealousy starts growing in them.

Children should not become each other’s enemies, parents should take care

There are many reasons behind sibling rivalry, says Dr. Varun S. Mehta, Associate Professor, Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP). Usually children quarrel about things like education, food and drink. This tip is considered healthy. This behavior of children can be very stressful for the parents as both the children involved are part of them. But sometimes, knowingly or unknowingly, parents start comparing one child with another. As if he’s good at reading, why aren’t you? Or she always comes out on top. You are not as beautiful as her. These are all common things, which are spoken for comparison. Even after growing up, if there is discrimination, then the rivalry increases and they become victims of personality disorder.

Parents should try not to compare between two children. Give equal time and attention to both. Every child has his own identity, respect and value that identity. Foster the spirit of helping each other among children.

Tales of sibling rivalry will be found in fairy tales around the world. Apart from this, it is mentioned in scriptures and literature. There are many examples of sibling rivalry to be found in the Bible. The story of Cain and Able is one of them. Where the jealousy of one brother leads to the death of another. Such a story is also present in ‘The Book of Genesis’ in the Hebrew Bible. Isaac’s son Isaou was jealous of his brother Jacob’s inheritance and the love he received. There, sisters named Lia and Rachel used to compete with each other for Jacob’s love. In the book, there is a mention of Jesus burning Jacob and selling him into slavery.

Similar stories are also present in the Quran. Roman myths give the example of Romulus and Remus, in which twin brothers fight for the capture of Rome. But it ends with the death of Remus.
