New Delhi, July 5 | Days after a fine of Rs 5,000 was imposed on an Ambedkar University student for allegedly making ‘derogatory remarks’ against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi government sources said the fine was imposed on the university. Cancellation has been ordered.

Sources told IANS that the Delhi government has also asked the university not to take any action against the student for his remarks. A direction in this regard has been issued by Manish Sisodia on Monday.

Sources in the Delhi government said, “Manish Sisodia has directed the Principal Secretary, Higher Education to quash the fine imposed on the student of Ambedkar University and ensure that no action is taken against her for her remarks. “

According to the information, the university had on June 30 imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on a final semester student of MA in Performance Studies for his alleged remarks made during an online convocation of the university in December last year.

In an order, the proctor of the university said, “An incident of use of abusive/distasteful/other comments by Neha in a YouTube thread during the 9th Annual Convocation of AUD on December 23, 2020 had come to the notice of the Proctoral Board. Based on the matter, the board had constituted a sub-committee to investigate the incident and submit its report.

The Sub-Committee resolved that the comments made on public forums about the University community, the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor were baseless and derogatory and clearly a deliberate attempt to defame and disrespect the University community.
