Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Monday invited stand-up comedians Kunal Kamra and Munawwar Farooqui to organize an event in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal after they were denied permission for the show in Bengaluru recently. .

Farooqui was refused a show in Bengaluru, Karnataka last month amid protests by Hindu right-wing organisations. A few days later, Kamra, a vocal critic of the government, said that his stand-up show in Bengaluru had been canceled after the organizers received threats.

Digvijay Singh said in a Twitter post on Monday, “I will organize a show for you Kunal and Munavvar in Bhopal. All responsibility will be mine. The only condition is that the subject of comedy will be Digvijay Singh. Sanghis (RSS cadre) should not object to this!! do not fear !! Give the date and time as per your convenience. Accept all your conditions.” The Rajya Sabha member also tagged a news article related to Kamra in his post.

Earlier this year, Farooqui spent a month in jail in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore after a BJP MLA’s son in January complained of hurting religious sentiments. ,
