Singer KK (53), who enthralled Bollywood lovers with his melodious tunes, was cremated on Thursday in the presence of family and friends. KK aka Krishnakumar Kunnath died of a heart attack on Tuesday night after a live performance at Kolkata’s Nazrul Manch. He was taken to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. KK’s body was brought from Kolkata to his Mumbai residence when the West Bengal government paid his last respects with a gun salute. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also paid floral tributes to the late singer, whose body was briefly kept in Rabindra Sadan after the post-mortem.
Celebrities from the music and entertainment industry including singers Hariharan, Javed Ali, Alka Yagnik, Mini Mathur, Shreya Ghoshal, Salim Merchant and Abhijit Bhattacharya visited KK’s residence on Thursday morning to pay their last respects.

According to the doctor, the artist could have been saved if someone had given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) immediately after he fainted. He had a major blockage in the left main coronary artery and smaller blockages in various other arteries and sub-arteries.
The excessive enthusiasm during the live show stopped the blood flow causing heart failure which took his life.”
