Singer Ed Sheeran tests COVID positive

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has contracted COVID-19. The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker posted a statement on his Instagram account, revealing that he has tested positive for coronavirus. He also shared that he has isolated himself. “Hey guys. Quick note to let you know that I have tested positive for covid, so I am now self-isolating and following government guidelines,” he wrote. Sheeran now plans to give pre-scheduled interviews and performances from home.

“..means I am unable to proceed with any personal commitments now so I am doing as many interviews/performances as I can from my home. Apologies to anyone I have disappointed Everyone stay safe,” he said.

After learning about his COVID-19 diagnosis, fans wished him a speedy recovery. One Instagram user commented, “I’m sorry to hear that! Get better soon.” “Relax. You’ll be better super soon,” wrote another.

The news comes days ahead of the release of Sheeran’s fourth studio album on October 29, reports The Hollywood Reporter. He will also appear as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live on 6 November.
