Singapore asks ex-Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to go away

Singapore has issued an ultimatum to ex-Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Singapore authorities have informed the previous Sri Lanka president that he can not proceed to remain within the nation past the 15 days that that they had initially granted. The announcement follows Rajapaksa’s resignation while in exile.

Rajapaksa fled to the Maldives on July 13 after which landed in Singapore the subsequent day. Gotabaya Rajapaksa despatched his resignation letter on July 14 via an e-mail to the Parliament Speaker, days after protesters stormed the presidential palace demanding his resignation.
