The song SYL, released by late singer Sidhu Moose Wala after his death on June 23, has been removed by YouTube. India Just three days after it hit the video streaming platform. According to news agency ANI, the song was removed after a complaint by the central government. When you click on the song a message appears on the screen. The message states that the video is not available in this country. This comes after a legal complaint was filed by the central government.

Song SYL talks about the Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal, which has been a bone of contention between Punjab and Haryana for a very long time. Apart from this issue, the song has spoken on many other topics. It talks about undivided Punjab and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The video also shows the Sikh flag hoisting at the Red Fort during the farmers’ movement.

Sidhu composed the song before he was shot on 29 May. The music video of the song was released by producer MXRCI on 23 June. Since its release, SYL has garnered over 27 million views. It has also got 3.3 million likes on Youtube.

SYL was the first song to be released after Sidhu’s death. Sidhu’s father had requested all the music producers and relatives not to release his unfinished songs. His parents also warned of strict action if his requests were not followed. It was said that Sidhu’s father used to decide everything related to Sidhu’s unfinished track.

The late singer was shot dead by assailants in Jawaharke village of Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29. The killing took place a day after the Punjab government partially withdrew his security. Sidhu had joined the Congress party in December ahead of the assembly elections. Canadian gangster Goldie Brar claimed responsibility for Sidhu’s murder in a Facebook post. According to reports, Goldie has a close relationship with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Lawrence is the prime suspect in Sidhu’s murder.

Sidhu’s last rites were performed on May 31. After his death, many celebrities expressed grief and condolences to his family.
