‘Sidhu has completed his 18-point agenda’: Media advisor to former PCC chief on Congress leader’s shock move

Taking a big step, Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday. His media advisor Surinder Dalla said the leader has resigned after fulfilling the 18-point agenda of the party high command.

Speaking to CNN-News18 over phone, Dalla said, “Sidhu has resigned as he feels that the 18-point agenda has been fulfilled. Sidhu never compromised on the welfare and agenda of Punjab.”

However, in a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Sidhu said that he would continue to serve the party. Sidhu took over as the Punjab Congress President in July this year.

He wrote in the letter, “The downfall of a man’s character comes from a compromise corner, I can never compromise on the future of Punjab and the agenda of Punjab’s welfare.” “Therefore, I resign as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress,” he further wrote.

In July, Sidhu uploaded a video on his Twitter handle, in which he said in Punjabi, “I have always protected the interests of the people of Punjab and have always raised my voice.” Also, according to the instructions of the Congress high command, the 18-point program that has been decided will definitely be implemented. It has to be implemented.”

In the video, Sidhu had also shared about his meeting with former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on a “public-friendly” 18-point agenda for Punjab.
