Siddharth Mallya’s memoir on mental health to be released on October 21

Actor Siddharth Mallya’s life has been a unique one, to say the least. Born into one of India’s foremost business families, he is the son of Vijay Mallya, having what many would consider – from an outside perspective – a blessed life. Although appearances can often be deceiving, and at times what was going on inside was a very different story.

In his memoir ‘If I’m Being Honest’, published by Westland Publications, he talks about battling depression, living with OCD, the effects of his parents’ divorce, why he quit drinking and what made him lose his life. Helped to meet the challenges and overcome them. .

In 2016, he went through depression. Something that came as a bit of a surprise to her, considering she had the world at her feet – she was young, had graduated from a prestigious drama school and had upcoming film projects. However, despite all the wonderful opportunities that awaited him, Siddhartha felt sad and constantly low. That’s when he realized that something was not right and sought professional help.

Thus began his journey to understand his current mental state as well as discover other mental issues that he has faced throughout his life.

Talking about his experience and thoughts behind writing the memoir, Siddharth says, “After watching the success of my ‘Consider This’ video series, I felt whatever I needed to do to shed light on mental health. , he has to continue, and the best way to do this would be to continue to talk about his own experiences in an open and honest way to show that it’s okay to talk about our issues. My book Really It’s about helping people see that it’s okay to talk openly about our issues and embrace our truth.”

After a short career in the business world, Siddhartha ventured into acting. He trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, graduating with a Master of Arts degree in acting. He made his feature film debut in the Netflix original ‘Brahmin Naman’, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

The book will release in India on October 21.
