Green’s effort was closely watched by the third umpire after the on-field umpires had sent the decision up. However, after looking at the catch from different angles, the third umpire declared Gill out. This sparked a debate on social media.
Several fans took to Twitter to criticize the decision to drop Gill. Notably, no soft signal was used in the dismissal as the ICC has abolished the rule. The on-field umpires refer the incident up to the third umpire to decide.
