Uttarakhand, India: The revered Shri Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand will close its doors for the winter season, starting November 18, as announced by the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) President, Ajendra Ajay. This decision was made during a religious ceremony conducted at the temple on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of religious leaders, pilgrimage priests, and rights holders, along with thousands of devoted pilgrims who had gathered to partake in this significant event. Shri Badrinath Dham had initially opened its doors to devotees on April 27 of the same year.
Furthermore, according to the Uttarakhand Police Headquarters, the Char-Dham Yatra, by October 16, had already seen over 5 million pilgrims visiting the sacred shrines. Additionally, approximately 540,000 vehicles have traversed the routes of Char-Dham, making this pilgrimage season notably busy. Kedarnath Dham received more than 1,780,000 devotees, while Badrinath Dham welcomed 1,590,000 pilgrims. Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Hemkund Sahib also saw substantial numbers of visitors during this pilgrimage season.

As per an official statement from the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, Shri Gangotri Dham is slated to close for the winter season on November 14, while Shri Yamunotri Dham will follow suit on November 15. This annual closing of the temple portals during winter is a customary practice in this region.
