Happy birthday shreya ghoshal: Shreya Ghoshal, who turns a year older today, is undoubtedly the reigning queen of Bollywood when it comes to playback singing. His singing skills are unmatched not only in Hindi films but also in other regional languages of the country. The four-time National Film Award winning singer has recorded over 20 studio albums, sung in over 20 languages. A day has also been named in his honor by the state of Ohio in the United States of America. On his birthday, we look at five of his most famous songs.
Bairi Piya (2002)
Sanjay Leela Bhansali discovered Shreya Ghoshal’s talent in the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Ghoshal performed ‘Bairi Piya’ as a duet with Udit Narayan from a composition by Ismail Darbar with lyrics by Nusrat Badr. The song became a chartbuster and helped fetch Shreya her first National Film Award.
Teri Hour (2008)
Singh is Kinng (2008), starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, became a major box office success, partly due to the film’s music. Shreya Ghoshal performed the romantic track, ‘Teri Ore’ composed by Pritam along with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan with lyrics by Mayur Puri. The song became hugely popular and helped fetch Ghoshal another Filmfare Award trophy.
Sankalp (2022)
Shreya Ghoshal and Sanjay Leela Bhashali have teamed up for their debut music album ‘Sukoon’. She renders the lyrics of the early 19th century Urdu poet Momin Khan Momin in a romantic rendition that is imbued with devotion and nostalgia.
Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai (2002)
Ghoshal proved her versatility by delicately rendering the sensuous lyrics of the song in the Amit Saxena-directed Jism (2002). The music of RRR was composed by Golden Globe winning composer MM Keeravani and written by Neelesh Mishra. Ferrari Mon (2009)
Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s Antaheen received four National Film Awards in 2010. The two awards were for the track, Ferrari Mon, composed by Madhur Anindya Chatterjee and Chandril Bhattacharya, performed by Ghoshal.
