New Delhi:

Delhi Police has prepared a 3,000-page draft charge sheet against Aftab Poonawalla, who allegedly killed his live-in partner Shraddha Walker and chopped her body into 35 pieces before scattering it across the city, sources said. .

Sources say that the draft chargesheet contains testimony of over 100 witnesses and is based on crucial electronic and forensic evidence, which the police has gathered during its months-long investigation.

The police have also cited Aftab’s confession, his narco test results and forensic test reports in the charge sheet. It is being reviewed by legal experts.

Aftab Poonawala is accused of killing Shraddha Walker on May 18 last year after an argument in a rented flat in Delhi’s Mehrauli. He cut her body into 35 pieces, which he kept in a 300-litre fridge.

Later he dumped the body parts in Mehrauli forest area for several days.

Sources said the saw and blade allegedly used to cut up the body were thrown into bushes in a part of Gurugram, while the meat cutter was thrown into a dustbin in South Delhi.

Last month, a DNA test confirmed that the bones that Aftab Poonawalla had led police to in an urban forest were those of Shraddha.

The crime slowly came to light when his father went to the police in his hometown in Maharashtra sometime in October.

The father, Vikas Walkar, was not in touch with her as he was troubled by her inter-faith relationship with Aftab Poonawalla. After meeting on a dating app, the couple lived together for a few months in their hometown Vasai near Mumbai, before relocating to Delhi in May last year.

The 28-year-old has been in judicial custody since November last year. Sources say Aftab had earlier told a Delhi court that he had killed his accomplice Shraddha Walker “in the heat of the moment”.
