Ex-US defence officials and journalist Michael Shellenberger testified before a congressional committee claiming that the US govt conducted a secret UFO retrieval program.
A former US department of defence official told a congressional committee on Wednesday that US government employees have been injured by UFOs, the Guardian said in a report. They also claimed the US government conducted a secret UFO retrieval program.
The hearing however lacked any direct evidence to back up the startling claims, the report said. The hearing on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), which in recent times, have become a more accepted term for UFO, heard that the government had a “huge amount” of secret information on UAPs.
They said the government possesses “photos, video, photos, other information”. During the hearing, Colorado congresswoman Lauren Boebert said there was no evidence of aliens having a secret underwater “base” on this planet.
In an extraordinary hearing last year, retired Major David Grusch, who once served on the Pentagon’s UAP Task Force, claimed that the US government has recovered nonhuman biological materials from crash sites.
In a report released in March, the Pentagon stated it has found no proof of extraterrestrial spacecraft.
Many people believe the government is hiding UAPs, but the hearing on Wednesday focused on statements from individuals claiming knowledge of secret government programs but did not present solid, verified evidence.
Retired US Navy Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet, now CEO of Ocean STL Consulting, testified that his belief in UAP encounters was solidified in January 2015. During a naval exercise off the US East Coast, Gallaudet was involved in capturing the well-known “Go Fast” video, in which a Navy F/A-18 recorded an unidentified flying object with unusual flight and structural features beyond current US technology.
Gallaudet noted that he, along with other commanders, received the video through an email from Fleet Forces Command’s operations officer. However, he recounted that the email and video mysteriously vanished from his and other recipients’ inboxes the next day, leaving no explanation.
These UAP hearings show how far discussions on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) have advanced from being interests of conspiracy theorists to serious topics within the US military and congressional debates.
During Wednesday’s UAP hearing, Representative Nancy Mace questioned Luis Elizondo, a former Defense Department official who, in a recent memoir, asserted that the US possesses technology crafted by non-human intelligence.
Under oath, Mace asked Elizondo if the government has conducted covert programs to retrieve UAP crash materials. He confirmed with a “yes”. When further asked if these programs aimed to reverse-engineer alien technology, Elizondo replied again saying “yes”.
“In your book, you mentioned government employees who’ve been injured by UAPs placed on leave and receiving government compensation for their injuries. Is that correct?” Mace asked, to which Elizondo responded affirmatively.
“If we’re spending money on something that doesn’t exist, why are we spending the money, and if it does exist, why are we hiding it from the public?” Mace told the panel.
Immaculate Constellation
At Wednesday’s UAP hearing, journalist Michael Shellenberger, founder of the news site Public testified on claims he’s reported that the Pentagon operates a secret UFO retrieval program known as “Immaculate Constellation”.
According to Shellenberger, multiple “current or former government officials” have disclosed that this program has collected “maybe thousands” of items as evidence of UAPs, which point to the Pentagon’s involvement in understanding and analysing potential non-human technologies.
“What the American people need to know is that the US, military and intelligence community are sitting on a huge amount of visual and other information: still photos, video, photos, other sensor information, and they have for a very long time,” Shellenberger said, according to the Guardian.
“And it’s not those fuzzy photos and videos that we’ve been given. There’s very clear, high resolution [files],” he further added.
“We should not turn a blind eye, but boldly face this new reality and learn from it,” Gallaudet said.
