The long-delayed project of Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi, Ottakkomban, is finally set to commence shooting. The actor recently revealed his plans during the recent general body meeting of the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce. It will start shooting on September 1, while Gopi will join the team on September 6.

Addressing the assembly, he expressed his unwavering commitment to acting and said, “I have asked for permission, but haven’t received it yet. I am starting ‘Ottakkomban’ from September 6 onwards. I need everyone’s blessings.”

He emphasised his dedication to the film industry and revealed that he has agreed to act in 22 upcoming films. “All this I want to do. So, if they remove me from it, I would consider myself saved. That is all I can say,” the actor said.

He also approached Union Home Minister Amit Shah to request permission to act in Ottakkomban. Gopi said, “When I told him I had 22 films to complete, he tossed my request letter aside but eventually granted permission.” He further added that no matter what, he will join the sets of Ottakomban.

Directed by Mathews Thomas, the film, which was announced in 2020, was shelved indefinitely. The shooting for the film was stalled due to the pandemic and also after a plagiarism case was filed against the script. The allegation was that the upcoming film has similarities with the Prithviraj starrer Kaduva. Later, a plagiarism case was filed by Jinu Abraham. The judge, after hearing the matter, ordered the makers to stop all work on the film unless major changes were made to the script.

Ottakkomban is bankrolled by Tomichan Mulakuppadam under the banner of Mulakuppadam Films. The music for the film has been composed by Harshavardhan Rameshwar, and the cinematography is done by Shaji Kumar while edited by Noufal Abdullah. It is scripted by Shibin Thomas. Reportedly, Joju George and Mukesh will also play important roles in the film.
