Police said the victim, Sati Sahu, was killed by her husband Pawan Thakur, about 1-2 months before her body parts were dumped in a water tank at their house in Uslapur, Bilaspur.
A woman was allegedly killed by her husband on suspicion of having an extramarital affair in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur and her dismembered body was found in a water tank at her house.

According to Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar, Pawan Singh Thakur, a resident of Takhatpur village of Chhattisgarh, married Sati Sahu of another caste. After marriage, the couple lived in a rented house in Uslapur, where they often quarreled over suspicions of an extramarital affair.
The incident came to light when neighbors complained of foul smell coming from the house. After interrogation, the police found foul smell coming from the roof of the house. The decomposed remains were found inside a plastic bag in the water tank. According to the police, Thakur was arrested and a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The case is reminiscent of the Shraddha Walker murder case in which her 28-year-old live-in partner Aftab Poonawalla allegedly chopped her body into 35 pieces by slitting her throat. He was arrested after keeping them in a 300-litre fridge at his residence in south Delhi’s Mehrauli for nearly three weeks before dumping them across the city.
Months after the sensational case, another similar case had come to light in the national capital in which Sahil Gehlot was accused of killing his girlfriend Nikki Yadav and keeping her body in the fridge of his dhaba in south-west Delhi.
