Shocking! Man Beaten, Compelled To Parade Naked As He Fails To Repay Rs 3,000 Loan

Noida: In a disturbing incident at a wholesale market in Noida, a garlic vendor faced physical assault and public humiliation. He was beaten up with a stick and compelled to parade naked after he failed to repay a loan of Rs 3,000 to a trader.

Police have apprehended two individuals, including the commission agent, while an active search is underway to locate the remaining suspects involved in the incident.

According to the filed FIR (First Information Report), the vendor had previously borrowed ₹5,600 from Sundar, the commission agent, approximately one month ago. These intermediaries, referred to as “aadthiyas,” serve as a crucial link between farmers and buyers within marketplaces and wield significant influence.

On a recent Monday, the vendor was able to return ₹2,500 of the borrowed amount and requested additional time to repay the outstanding sum.

Sundar, the commission agent, summoned his accountant and two labourers, who subsequently cornered the garlic vendor in a stall. There, they subjected him to physical violence using sticks, forcibly stripped him, and issued threats of harm, including threats of murder. Following this horrifying ordeal, the vendor was paraded unclothed within the market.

A video capturing this shocking incident emerged and quickly went viral on social media platforms, sparking widespread outrage and demands for stringent action against the culprits.

A case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code related to causing harm voluntarily, wrongful confinement, a deliberate insult to incite a breach of peace, and criminal intimidation, according to Senior Noida police officer Dr Rajiv Dixit. However, charges of assault were subsequently added during the investigation. Those responsible for sharing the video will also face legal consequences, as stated by the officer.

As of now, the agent Sundar and another accused named Bhagandas have been taken into custody, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in this distressing incident.
