SHIVAMOGGA: MP BY Raghavendra said the airport in Shivamogga will be completed by the end of the year. Speaking to the media on Saturday, he said that the runway will be completed by May or June, and the terminal by July, and that the test run of flights will get the green signal from December.
The MP met minister of civil aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia recently, and requested for greater connectivity to the airport.
“The proposed airport at Shivamogga will have the second-largest runway in Karnataka, after the Bengaluru airport. As it is in the middle of Karnataka, it will help to boost trade and commerce in districts with less connectivity. I have requested Scindia to expedite the tender process for the Mumbai-Shivamogga-Mumbai, Mumbai-Shivamogga-Mangaluru, Mumbai-Shivamogga-Chennai, Mumbai-Shivamogga-Tirupati, Shivamogga-Kalaburagi-Hyderabad, Shivamogga-Kalaburagi-Delhi, Bengaluru -Belagavi, Bengaluru-Shivamogga-Delhi, Kochi-Shivamogga-Delhi, Bengaluru-Shivamogga-Goa and Hyderabad-Shivamogga-Kochi routes,” the MP told the media.
