A group of Shiv Sena workers allegedly vandalized a neon signboard with ‘Adani airport’ written near the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj near the airport in Mumbai on Monday afternoon, a police official said. They raised slogans against the signboard when the airport was named after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Adani Airport Holdings Limited said, “In light of the developments surrounding the Adani Airports branding at Mumbai International Airport, we strongly assure that AAHL will replace the previous branding with the Adani Airports branding only. for branding or positioning at the terminal of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA)”. “The branding at CSMIA is in compliance with the norms and guidelines of the Airports Authority of India (AAI). AAHL will continue to adhere to all the guidelines laid down by the Government in the interest of the aviation community at large.” said the statement. The Adani Group last month said it has taken over the management of Mumbai International Airport from GVK Group.

Mumbai International Airport is the second busiest airport in the country (after Delhi’s IGIA) by both passenger and freight traffic. With the addition of Mumbai International Airport Limited, Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited, will now control 33 percent of India’s air cargo traffic, the company said in a statement.
