Shiv Sena’s deputy district chief from Satara in Maharashtra, Sanjay Bhosale arrives in Guwahati to urge party MLA Eknath Shinde to return to Maharashtra. Bhosale has been taken into custody by the police in the hotel where Shinde was waiting outside the hotel to meet the rebel MLAs.
With a poster in hand, “Eknath ji please come back,” he was fully prepared in his mission. Bhosale is the “upjela chief” of the Satara district, from where Shinde resides.
Speaking to News18, he said, “We believe in the ideology of Shiv Sainik Balasaheb Thackeray, and the party in Delhi was misled by Devendra Fadnavis. I have come here to take them back and will. There is great security here but I know I will convince them.”
Bhosale has come to Guwahati alone with the belief that he can take Shinde back.
Radisson Blu, where Shinde and 11 other MLAs have been camping for the past 48 hours, has been at the center of Maharashtra politics. Despite tight security arrangements, Bhosale is still trying to persuade the police to let him in.
The police officers repeatedly told him that there was no way he could meet the rebel MLAs.
The Thackeray-led Shiv Sena has demanded the disqualification of 12 MLAs of the Shinde camp for not attending the legislature party meeting on Wednesday.
Shinde, who has led the rebellion against the party, has claimed that the group led by him is the “real Shiv Sena”, and also said that he and his supporters will not be intimidated by threats of disqualification.
In a series of tweets posted late Thursday, Shinde, who is camping in Guwahati along with 37 Shiv Sena MLAs and 10 independents, said that as per the 10th Schedule of the Constitution, a party whip for legislature proceedings issued, and not for attending the meeting. ,
Responding to this, Shinde tweeted and said, ‘There are many decisions of the Supreme Court in this regard. Who are you trying to scare? We understand your game and the law too. You cannot demand action against our 12 MLAs because we are loyal to Balasaheb Thackeray and are the real Shiv Sena and Shiv Sainiks. Actually, despite not having numbers, we demand action against you for forming a group.
In the wake of their rebellion, Shinde was sacked as the leader of the Shiv Sena’s group in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The party has appointed Ajay Chaudhary in his place. However, the rebel group passed a resolution retaining Shinde as the leader of their group and appointed Bharat Gogawale as chief whip in place of Sunil Prabhu. Prabhu had sent letters to the rebels asking them to attend the legislature party meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday evening or face action under the anti-defection law.
