Actor and screenwriter Shiva Kumar Subramaniam passed away on Sunday night. The actor began his journey in Bollywood in 1989 by writing the script of the film with Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Parinda. He wrote notable movies like 1942: A Love Story, Chameli, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and many more. As a screenwriter, Subramaniam won Filmfare Awards for Best Story and Best Screenplay for Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and Parinda respectively. Subramaniam then ventured into acting and one of his notable performances in Bollywood was in the 2014 film 2 States.

Meenakshi Sundareshwar

Subramaniam was recently seen in this Netflix family drama starring Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani in lead roles. The actor once again played the father of Sanya’s character in the film.

Tu Hai Mera Sunday

His work as a man battling dementia was well received and praised in this 2016 film. Directed by Milind Dhamade, the film revolves around five friends who struggle to find a place to play football in the congested city of Mumbai. Local politicians ban sports of any kind on the beaches.

Subramaniam played a school principal in this 2018 film, which starred Rani Mukerji as a teacher with Tourette’s syndrome. His performance in the film was critically acclaimed by many.

Subramaniam starred in the 2009 Vishal Bhardwaj directorial starring Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. The actor played the role of Lobo, a policeman in the film.
