The decision to withdraw the Agriculture Act has been taken by the Narendra Modi-led central government. After this decision, Shiromani Akali Dal Badal (SAD) again came back in the politics of Punjab. Now Akali Dal can be replaced by Captain Amarinder Singh and can unite the scattered vote bank in his favor on these issues. The Captain has also openly announced to go with the BJP.

Seeing the electoral scenario of Punjab, the SAD broke the alliance with the BJP on the basis of agricultural laws. On the other hand, Shiromani Akali Dal is already searching for its land in the villages on the issue of sacrilege. In such a situation, there is bound to be a boom in the politics of Punjab after the BJP’s decision to withdraw the agriculture law. Because with this decision BJP will try to get sympathy vote. Earlier SAD was with BJP to handle this vote bank. After breaking the alliance, now SAD is again on the back foot. Because it was already decided that Captain Amarinder Singh was working with Home Minister Amit Shah to get the agriculture law back.

Alliance formed in 1996, broken in September 2020
Shiromani Akali Dal Badal broke his alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party in 1996 and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Since then he had been contesting elections in alliance with the BJP. In September 2020, the Akali Dal broke it and he again came with the BSP. Shiromani Akali Dal has also done seat sharing with BSP and tickets have also been announced.

Difficult to come back, no room for reconciliation
Shiromani Akali Dal Badal felt that BJP would never take back the agriculture law, so SAD started campaigning six months back. Never refused to join BJP. Now Akali Dal has come a long way and it is very difficult to reconcile with BJP. Capt Amarinder Singh skillfully captured this opportunity after a dispute with the Congress and joined hands with the BJP.

Akali Dal is engaged in handling the urban vote bank
Seeing the rural vote bank going hand in hand, Sukhbir Singh Badal changed his programs. He is now fully engaged in taking over the urban vote bank. There is also strong opposition to them in the villages. Now that the agricultural laws are being withdrawn, it has to be seen how the Akali Dal starts its campaign in the villages.
