Shimla ranks first in Sustainable Development Goals – Bhaskar Live Hindi News

Shimla, November 24 | Himachal Pradesh Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said on Wednesday that summer capital Shimla has been ranked first under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) urban index by NITI Aayog.

The index took into account 56 urban areas to measure SDG indicators in areas related to ending poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, etc.

Shimla has secured the first rank this year with 75.50 marks out of 100.

The Minister said that the statistical methodology for SDG Urban Index has been prepared according to the globally accepted methodology developed by Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).

The index uses a comprehensive list of 77 indicators, covering the 46 global SDG targets in 15 SDGs.

Shimla was ranked as the most livable among cities across the country in the Ease of Living Index rankings released earlier this year. It was based on an assessment of four parameters – quality of life, economic potential, sustainability and civic perception.
