The popular archery based betting lottery game, Shillong Tier is organized by Meghalaya from Monday to Saturday. This sports betting, which has been legalized under the Meghalaya Entertainment and Betting Tax Act, gives locals a chance to win monetary prizes. Every day, people have two chances to bet on an archery match, as the Shillong Arrows is held in two rounds. The first round will start at 3:45 pm and the second round at 4:45 pm.
Organized and managed by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association at Shillong’s Polo Ground, the archery match is governed by a set of rules. These rules state the expected distance between the archer and the target, along with some other important details of the target. It is mandatory for the archer to maintain a minimum distance of 15.21 meters and a maximum distance of 30.48 meters with the target. The rules also enforce that the height and circumference of the target must be between 61 cm and 102 cm and 66 cm and 127 cm respectively.
The game of archery is played by the archers of the association and the participants or ticket holders predict the probable outcome of these matches. According to Meghalaya Arrows, a total of 50 archers fired 30-30 arrows at the target in the first round. Whereas in the second round, the archers have to shoot 20-20 arrows at the target. Rs 80 is given for every Re 1 ticket for correct prediction in the preliminary round, while Rs 60 is given for every Re 1 ticket for correct guess in the second round. Many a times, some lucky winners are able to correctly predict the probable outcome of both the rounds, so they get Rs.4,000 for every Re 1 ticket.
