Ishq Vishk spiritual sequel Ishq Vishk Rebound is set to release on June 21.

Shenaz Treasury recalls memories of working with Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao on Ishq Vishk. She also shares how she and Amrita didn’t really ‘hit it off’.

21 years after Ishq Vishk that defined meet-cute college romance, comes its spiritual sequel Ishq Vishk Rebound. Recently, Shenaz Treasury, who had marked her debut along with Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao in the first film, expressed how the new film headlined by Rohit Saraf, Jibran Khan, Pashmina Roshan and Naila Grrewal, washed her over with nostalgia. She also referred to the recreation of Chot Dil Pe Lagi as ‘cute’.

As Ishq Vishk Rebound is all set to hit the big screens on June 21, Shenaz walks down the memory lane and exclusively talks to News18 Showsha about being a part of the franchise about young love. “I can’t believe that I did Ishq Vishq. It just happened. It became a big hit and achieved a cult status. Now everywhere I go and whoever I meet, they all talk to me about Ishq Vishq. They tell me that they’ve watched it 50-55 times whereas I’ve just watched it twice (laughs),” she says.

Working on the 2003 film was a bittersweet experience for Shenaz, who’s a popular travel vlogger today. While she fondly remembers a few moments with Shahid, she didn’t really get along with Amrita on the set. “With Amrita, I don’t really have any fond memory. But I do have some funny ones. I guess we didn’t really hit it off (laughs),” she says.

Prod her further and she continues, “When we went to Cape Town to shoot a song, the dance director kept telling us what to do. I was trying hard to get the step right and she went like, ‘I can do it! Let me do it!’ I remember that very clearly. I had a lot of fun shooting for that one scene with her where I walk up to her and tell her, ‘What are you doing? Why are you with my boyfriend?’ That scene was really fun! I guess that tension between us was great because it worked for the movie (laughs).”

Talking about Shahid, she shares, “I’ve memories of sitting in a car with Shahid and waiting for a shot and chitchatting. He told me, ‘How can you go back to MTV? You should take this movie career seriously.’ And I remember telling him that MTV was paying me a salary and the movies don’t pay anything and it was true that they weren’t paying anything because we were just starting out.”

And though Shahid wanted her to continue doing films, she went back to VJing with MTV. “He told me that I should put in more work and keep going. He was right because all of that eventually paid off for me. That conversation was interesting. I remember sitting there and debating what we should do with our careers and how he thought that that my going back to MTV was a wrong choice,” adds Shenaz, who penned a book titled All He Left Me Was A Recipe last year.
