Shekhar Suman might have delivered some memorable films through the years but it’s his television shows that truly made him a household name. Jaya Bachchan’s ‘Dekh Bhai Dekh’ propelled him to immense popularity and the sitcom set a precedent for Hindi fiction television for years to come. He followed it up with ‘Movers N Shakers’, a trailblazing late-night talk show that began airing in 1997 and ran till 2001.

The chat show saw Shekhar Suman interact with many celebrities and engage in comedy routines and performances with them. It also grabbed a lot of eyeballs for Suman’s comical emulation of many politicians. Despite soaring TRPs, ‘Movers N Shakers’ ended up ruffling many feathers. In fact, in an exclusive chat with us, Suman’s son Adhyayan had revealed how it led to their careers spiralling downwards as his banter didn’t sit well with many.

But now, it seems like the talk show is going to be back soon! Speaking to News18 Showsha exclusively, Shekhar Suman reveals, “Yes, there’s a thought of bringing it back. There’s a lot of pressure from the audience’s side. Wherever I go, even at the airport, people ask me, ‘Why don’t you get Movers And Shakers back?’”

Conversations have already begun and Suman even hints that this time around, ‘Movers N Shakers’ will be premiered on an OTT platform. “I’ve had advanced talks with a few people and they’re very excited about it. If it comes, it has to come in a big way because the show has a certain legacy. I’ve to put the team together and get all the great writers. It will be very exciting,” he says.

For the unversed, ‘Movers N Shakers’ had a revival season that was aired till 2012. “We were going through some strange times where television had taken a backseat and OTT wasn’t into non-fiction. They only wanted to back fiction series. I felt like television wasn’t the right place for Movers And Shakers to be back as no one was watching it and it receded into the background. I just waited for the opportune moment. I think now is the time to bring it back,” he states.

And this is not it! The ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ actor also talks about reviving his another show. “In fact, two of my iconic shows – Movers N Shakers and Dekh Bhai Dekh – are on the verge of being developed. It’s too early to talk about them because they’re both at a nascent stage. But it will and should happen,” he shares.

Talking about the feathers he ruffled with ‘Movers N Shakers’, Suman recalls the time when he irked Lalu Prasad Yadav. Interestingly, he was dubbed as one of the best mimics of the political leader. “There were questions raised in the parliament. Mr Shatrughan Sinha called me and asked me what I said about him that made him so upset. But he told me not to worry as he had managed the situation,” he says.
