Shekhar Kapur Diagnosed With Dyslexia, Intense ADD, Says ‘Special School Would Have Beaten’

New Delhi: Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur recently revealed that he is diagnosed with dyslexia. He revealed on Twitter that he has a condition that is often accompanied by Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).

In his tweet, Shekhar Kapur shared some of the life lessons he learned after learning about his condition, expressing gratitude that he was not sent to special schools. He wrote, “Life’s lessons: I am totally dyslexic and have severe ADD. I don’t know what else! Thank god there were no special schools for kids like me when I was growing up. They Defeated all rebellions. In me. Certainly would not have made a film. Or would have been creative.

Following her post about her dyslexia and ADD, several people took to the comments section and shared their thoughts on the subject. Many fans were also worried and left ‘Get well soon’ comments. One user wrote, ‘School for special ed kids is a boon for parents who have children with disabilities! Dyslexia or ADD may seem like a minor disorder to some but it is a punishment for parents whose children are seriously suffering from this disorder!’ Another wrote, ‘Schools for special support are a boon for parents who have children with disabilities!’

Born in Lahore, Pakistan on December 6, 1945, critically acclaimed director and actor best known for films such as Elizabeth (1998), Bandit Queen (1994) and The Four Feathers (2002). Shekhar Kapur directed the film Masoom in 1983 starring Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Urmila Matondkar.
