Heeramandi actress Sharmin Segal is facing flak for her behaviour towards Sanjeeda Sheikh during the promotional interviews. On Saturday, a clip from News18 Showsha’s interview went viral in which Sharmin was seen calling Sanjeeda an ‘outsider’. While fans were disappointed with Sharmin’s behaviour towards Sanjeeda, a social media user dug out another interview in which Sharmin was seen rolling her eyes at Sanjeeda while she spoke about Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
In an interview with IMDb, the team of Heeramandi was asked to name on one aspect about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s process that nobody knows of. Sanjeeda revealed, “I think he changes his kurtas three to four times in a day. And after every change, there’s this new thought in his mind.” While she answered, Sharmin was seen rolling her eyes and making faces.
Her expressions caught the internet’s attention. Sharing the video on X, a social media user wrote, “Sharmin needs to go get some media training instead of showing her obvious dislike towards Sanjeeda lmao Only Kareena from 2004 can deal with her.” A comment on the YouTube video of the interview read, “After watching so many interviews of Heeramandi cast, Sharmin is coming across aa rude, too aggressive and little disrespectful towards other actors at times.”
“Sharmin giving Sanjeeda the side eye what a batch,” added another. “Is it just me who noticed Sharmin making faces everytime Sanjeeda spoke,” a third user said. “When sanjeeda spoke look at sharmin’s expression…i mean dude act like an adult,” a fourth user said.
Over the weekend, Sharmin was trolled massively for being “rude” to Sanjeeda Shaikh in a News18 Showsha. When our journalist asked Sanjeeda whether she was intimidated by the idea of working with Bhansali, the actress replied, “He is just a perfectionist. He wants everything to look not mediocre because whatever he does is nothing less than excellence. He is somebody who is respected all around the world for his brilliant creative mind and incisive advocacy and honesty to the craft… He is somebody who is very expressive. If he doesn’t like it, he doesn’t like it. And if he likes it, he will validate your performance in front of everyone.”
However, Sharmin added that perfectionist is “a very basic word” to describe Bhansali. “It’s the kind of a word that an outsider who has never worked with him, been on his set and seen the kind of director that he is will use. He adapts to change very well. He likes challenging himself with different things,” she said. Sharmin’s statement hasn’t gone down well with netizens, who are calling her out for being “disrespectful” to Sanjeeda.
