New Delhi: Shares of Vodafone Idea fell 5.13 per cent to Rs 7.40 on BSE on Monday. During the last five days, the shares of the telco had declined by 7.50 per cent, while it had lost 6.92 per cent during the last month.

Telecom operator Vodafone Idea had sought emergency funds of at least 70 billion rupees from local banks, which are reluctant to grant fresh loans, according to media reports. Two days ago, banks led by State Bank of India said that they were not in favor of taking more credit exposure for Vodafone Idea. Lenders were awaiting further clarity on the status of the government’s stake in Vodafone Idea. The company will bring in more equity capital, the report said.
