ShareChat closes $520 million round at $5 billion valuation – Times of India

New Delhi: In the multi-tranched funding round, ShareChat has raised $255 million from Google, Times Group and existing investors at a valuation of $5 billion, adding to the $266M raised earlier in December 2021.
Since 2021, ShareChat has raised $1.2 billion in total and acquired MX TakaTak.
In the first part of the round, ShareChat raised US$266 million in December from Alkeon Capital, Temasek, HarborVest, Moore Strategic Ventures, and India Quotient.
In the final tranche of this round, following the acquisition of MX Temasek, ShareChat added Google and Times Group as new investors, while Temasek participated again, adding $255 million.
ShareChat, which achieved unicorn status last year, has collectively raised $913 million in 2021, the highest funding of all unicorns during the year.
ShareChat (Mohalla Tech) runs Moj and TakaTak, India’s largest short video platforms, in addition to the ShareChat app, which together cater to over 400 million users.
