Shang Chi star Simu Liu thanks former employer for firing him ten years ago, shares inspiring story

Tuesday was a special day for Chinese-Canadian actor Simu Liu as he was fired 10 years ago on that day as an accountant in a multinational company and thus, he ventured into acting. Simu Liu, who has worked in series like Kim’s feature, and rose to fame last year for playing the protagonist in Marvel Studios’ Shang Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, shared an inspiring Instagram post on Tuesday. With blockbuster Marvel Studios debuts and subsequent films with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, Simu has become a global star. However, this was not true ten years ago, when he worked as an accountant in a multinational company in Toronto. In a recent Instagram post, Simu shared that it was only after he was fired that he was so hated that he was able to pursue his dream in Hollywood.

The 32-year-old actor recently shared a screenshot of his tweet along with a long caption in an Instagram post. Simu tweeted, ‘Soon will be April 12th. The day I got off from Deloitte. I owe my life to giving up a career I hated. Accounting = not for me. The caption accompanying the screenshot read, “Ten years ago, I was taken to my managing partner’s office in Deloitte and told they were terminating my employment, effective immediately.” Recalling the incident, Simu said that soon after he was fired, he went back to collect his luggage and all his comrades watched in pin-drop silence.

Expressing how bad it was for him at that time, Simu said that he felt as if his life was over. The actor also said that he felt that he had wasted countless time and money invested by his family.

However, Simu mentioned that during those ten years, he struggled and worked his way up to enter the entertainment industry. It should be noted that Simu also served as a model for Shutterstock images, and even now his general illustrations are used on products, posters, and many articles online. Soon after Shang Chi debuted, the actor’s stock photos became the stock for memes on social media.

Simu wrote that in four of those ten years he ran around like a “headless chicken” while facing financial strain and finding ways to survive to achieve his “pipe dream”. sought, as some had told him. The actor said it was only during the last three years that his struggle has yielded any results.

The actor ended his post by telling his followers that no amount is worth compromising on his vision. The actor wrote, “Finding a dream – your dream – against all odds… that’s life.” The actor expressed his gratitude to Deloitte Toronto, writing, “You did for me what I never dared to do myself; you destroyed the life I was building for someone else, so that I could finally do it for myself. I can start making life.”
