Shahid Afridi to play Nepal’s Everest Premier League with Sandeep Lamichhane

Afridi will tour Nepal for the first time as a cricketer.

The youngster from Nepal made his T20 International debut playing alongside Afridi when both the cricketers appeared for a World XI match against world champions West Indies.

Former Pakistan captain and legend Shahid Afridi will participate in the Everest T20, Nepal’s domestic T20 competition, along with local superstar Sandeep Lamichhane. The two players have a special bond with each other; The youngster from Nepal made his T20 International debut playing alongside Afridi when both the cricketers appeared for a World XI match against world champions West Indies.

Both have also appeared together in Pakistan Super League and Afghanistan Super League. Lamichhane told Afridi in a video message at the launch of the team’s campaign, “Welcome on board with the Kathmandu Kings XI. All the boys are really excited to see you on the field here. And I know personally that. You have a great time during your visit to Nepal. Can’t wait to see you join the team.”

“This will be my first visit to Kathmandu. I am very excited and looking forward to coming,” Afridi said. When asked how many sixes he would hit in the tournament, he replied: “It depends on the bowling that day, but I will try my level best to entertain the people of Nepal.”

Everest T20 was all set to sign big guys like Chris Gayle but then Covid-19 hit and the game was postponed. The tournament held its inaugural tournament in 2016 before abruptly stopping in 2018. It was set to start in 2020 before the pandemic struck.
