Shabaash Sultan of Bengal: Ravi Shastri and others congratulate Mohammed Shami for taking 200 Test wickets

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri led the cricket fraternity to congratulate Mohammed Shami for taking 200 Test wickets. Shami achieved this feat by taking five wickets in the first Test of the three-match series against South Africa on Tuesday. He became the third fastest Indian fast bowler to complete 200 wickets in Test cricket – 56 Tests. In Test cricket for India, only Kapil Dev (50) and Javagal Srinath (54) crossed the 200-wicket mark faster than Shami.

Shastri has coached Shami over the years and he has always talked a lot about the fast bowler. It was Shami’s sixth five-wicket haul in Test cricket and his second on South African soil.

Veteran India batsman VVS Laxman also praised Shami for his brilliant bowling against South Africa on the third day of the Boxing Day Test.
