Shaan’s mother Sonali Mukherjee passes away, Kailash Kher prays for the singer’s family

Sonali Mukherjee, mother of playback singer Shaan, has passed away. Singer Kailash Kher confirmed the news in a tweet on Thursday morning. Although the cause of death is still unknown, Kailash expressed grief and prayed for Shaan and his family.

“Shaan’s mother passed away. Prayers to God for the salvation of the departed soul. Praying to Lord Shiva, the lord of the three worlds, to give strength to the family of our brother Shaan to bear this loss. Eternal prayers,” Kailash said in Hindi. Said in a tweet.

In an interview with Hindustan Times in 2016, Shaan had revealed that it was because of his mother, that he could pursue a career in singing. When the singer was 14 years old his father died and his mother raised him and his sister alone. “After my father passed away in 1986, he single-handedly raised my sister, Sagarika, and me. I was only 14 then. She used to be the chorus singer for film songs from 1970 to 2000.”

Shaan had also said that when the singer started becoming popular, Sonali wanted to retire from her chorus singing job as she was worried that she would embarrass Shaan. However, the singer was proud of him.

Sonali celebrated her birthday in March 2021 with Shaan and his family. At the time, Shaan shared a picture with her on Instagram and wrote, “Today is my mom’s birthday!!! ️ Glad she is in great health and happiness!!! Bhagyawan.”

Shaan Chand is known for many hit songs including Sifarish, Musu Musu, Kuch To Hua Hai and Jab Se Tere Naina. He has also released a few albums in the late 1990s. In 2020, the singer also sang a remix version of Dus Bahane and Tujhe Rab Mann for Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 3. Apart from Bollywood, Shaan has sung songs in Assamese, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam.
