Sexual harassment of girl students in Delhi’s MCD school: Principal told to keep quiet after complaining, case registered after intervention of Women’s Commission

Two girls were allegedly sexually assaulted at the MCD school in Bhajanpura, Delhi. The information has been shared by Swati Maliwal, Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, from her Twitter handle. Swati Maliwal told that a man entered a government school in Delhi and allegedly sexually assaulted the girls.

The incident took place on April 30 at MCD School in Delhi. In the morning all the students were waiting for the teacher in the class after the prayer. Then an unknown person entered the class and took off the clothes of two girls. After this the door of the class was closed from inside and the person urinated in front of all the students.

Principal asked to forget the incident

Swati Maliwal said in her complaint that when the students informed the teacher and the principal about the entire incident, they asked them to keep quiet and forget.

MCD commissioner summoned

While issuing the notice, Maliwal said that the accused should be arrested at the earliest. Along with this, the MCD commissioner has also been summoned. Accountability must be certain. At present, a case has been registered and the incident is being investigated.

Action on teacher and principal

Swati Maliwal said that the details of the accused should be extracted and information should be collected about how he entered inside the class. What are the arrangements for the safety of students and teachers in the school. If CCTV cameras are installed, then footage should be made available from 6 am to 12 pm on the 30th. Also inform about the action taken against the teacher, principal and other employees for not informing the police.
