Seraikela hospitals asked to inform administration about post-CoV cases Ranchi News – Times of India

Jamshedpur : Seraikela Kharsawan District Health Department on Wednesday declared all government and private Hospital To inform the health authorities as soon as any post COVID related cases are reported at their respective facilities. This comes two days after four suspected cases of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS-C) in children, linked to COVID-19, were reported at the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital in Adityapur.
District Surveillance Officer Jhujhar Manjhi said, “All hospitals that have pediatric facilities should be careful in dealing with COVID cases and report every case to the department immediately.”
On Tuesday, Manjhi had sought a detailed report from ESIC medical superintendent MP Minj after four suspected cases of MIS-C were reported in the hospital.
Manjhi said the hospital is yet to share the report, though the superintendent has confirmed that the four children are doing well after their treatment.
Minz said one of the four children admitted since Monday has been discharged. “A three-year-old boy was discharged on Tuesday evening after his condition improved, while a two-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy are currently undergoing treatment. Secondly, a 12-year-old boy was referred to Tata Main Hospital as he needed ventilation support. His condition is improving.”
Responding to a question, Minz said, “I have informed the district health officials about the admission of four children over phone. The diagnosis and treatment report will be shared shortly.”
Meanwhile, Manjhi said that the District Health Department has set up a 10-bedded Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Sadar Hospital, Seraikela, after COVID-related illnesses in children. He said that after the report is received at the Sadar Hospital, the suspected cases of MIS-C will first be sent for counseling, after which the cause of the symptoms will be investigated and if the patient needs admission for further treatment, he/she will be admitted.
