‘Seemed So Fun’: Former WWE Star Ricochet Opens Up About His Decision To Join AEW – News18

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ricochet looks to be enjoying his time at All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He signed for the Tony Khan-owned promotion earlier this month on a multi-year deal following the expiry of his WWE contract. The 35-year-old wrestler recently opened up about his decision to join AEW. He made his debut at the company’s biggest pay-per-view event, All In, on August 25.

Ricochet featured in the Casino Battle Royale Gauntlet match at the Wembley Stadium in London but ended up losing the fight to Christian Cage. He also appeared at the AEW Dynamite this week and defeated Kyle Fletcher in a one-on-one battle. During a recent chat with The Takedown, Ricochet reminisced about his WWE career and admitted that moving to the company was a “big decision”.

“Obviously, yes it was hard because it’s a place I’ve been for the last six years. I’ve met. I got some really good connections, some friends, and some good memories there,” Ricochet stated, as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Leaving WWE might be an emotional moment for Ricochet but he never regretted his decision to join AEW. “It was definitely hard but at the same time, no, it wasn’t because I am a person who has always changed. I’ve always done stuff, so that’s something that I was looking forward to,” the former WWE United States Champion added.

About his much-talked-about move to AEW, Ricochet said, “I saw the guys and girls over there and what they were doing, and it just seemed so fun. You want to be a part of it. Now that I’m able to and able to be a part of it and hopefully help move it forward into the next, generation is going to be awesome.”

Ricochet informed the WWE officials about his impending departure from the company earlier in June. His last appearance came in an episode of Monday Night RAW. Ricochet faced off against Bron Breakker, who thrashed him into a car windshield.

On June 30, Ricochet was found to be included in the alumni section on the WWE website. At AEW, he will get to reunite with some of his former colleagues like Mercedes Mone, Adam Cole and Saraya. It will be interesting to see how the promotion uses a superstar like Ricochet, having placed him in the Dynamite roster.
