New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday found a suspicious object, which has been identified as an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), lying on the side of the road in Rajouri.
An official statement by Rajouri Police said that security forces foiled a terror conspiracy by recovering an IED at Rajouri Gurdan Road, news agency ANI reported.

According to the statement, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had received a credible information about suspicious activities in Gurdan Chava village on Rajouri Gurdan Road.
“On this, the Army, Special Operations Group of Police and Army teams of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint cordon and search operation in the area in the early hours of Saturday,” Rajouri police said.
During the operation, a suspicious object was found lying on the side of the road which turned out to be an IED during investigation.

The recovered IED was destroyed by taking it to a safe place.
Police informed, “Police’s bomb squad subsequently took over the material as per the SOP and through a controlled explosion to further destroy the material, which was later destroyed at a safe place.”
Further investigation is going on in the matter.
