This feature is not completely new as Windows 10 and 11 already have Windows security Application which allows users to address multiple security details including malware protection, browser security, firewall and more.
However, as per reports, the new Microsoft Defender will feature the new Windows 11 WinUI and Fluent Design, with a simpler interface that matches the look and feel of Windows 11.
The official store description found within the app’s .msixbundle suggests that Microsoft is also planning to expand Microsoft Defender beyond just the Windows operating system. The app’s .msix file also contains icons for Android, iPhone, and Mac. This suggests that the Defender app can show details about connected devices running other operating systems.
The website also mentioned that the new app cannot replace the existing Windows security app and works as a dashboard app to provide complete insight into the health and safety of the device.
It’s also worth noting that there are changes that may require a Microsoft 365 account for the Microsoft Dashboard feature to work.
