Hyderabad: A ‘secret service’ FundForest Minister A Indrakaran Reddy on Monday said informers would soon be set up by the state government to help curb forest crimes such as wildlife poaching, encroachment and smuggling.
Terming the incident of tiger poaching in Mulugu as very painful, Reddy asked the forest officials to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
Addressing forest officials and other stakeholders at a one-day workshop organized by Telangana State Forest Department at Dr. Mary Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute, the Minister said that CM K Chandrashekhar Rao has allocated Rs 4.06 crore for the ‘Secret Service Fund’ .
In view of the CM’s emphasis on curbing forest crimes, the responsibility of forest officers has increased further. I urge the officials to work as per the objectives of the government and fulfill the responsibility of protecting the forests honestly,” the minister said.
Principal Conservator of Forests R Shobha termed CM KCR as the brand ambassador of the forest department, and said no other state has given forests as much priority as the Telangana government.
