But after the incident the youth went missing. The police suspected him. The police traced the whereabouts of the servant after examining the CCTV footage of the house. Investigators may also come to know that the house of the accused is in Uttar Pradesh. After this a team of police left for Uttar Pradesh. The investigation team of Laketown police station arrested the accused from there. Dhriti was brought from there to Calcutta. Investigators have started questioning the accused.
It is noteworthy that Deepa Mukherjee (65) used to live alone in her house in Bangur B Block of Laketown. Her children live elsewhere. For some time his family could not talk to the old lady. When they were forced to search, the rotten body of the old lady was found in the house. When the police was informed immediately, the police came and recovered the rotten body of the old woman wrapped in a towel around her neck. Upon entering the house, investigators found the entire house in a dilapidated condition. The body was sent to Arjikar Hospital for post-mortem. Police have confirmed in the preliminary investigation that the murder was done by suffocation.
