What else can be done? It’s been going on for a long time. Accident or not, it is fundamental that the safety of patients, students and common man should be ensured in a welfare state. The judges further observed that the authorities may be active in the implementation of the fire safety law, but they are not proactive. The government should show some concrete measures. Asking the authorities to create special machinery and coordinating bodies to deal with the situation of the Covid pandemic, the judges remarked, “You may not be sluggish, but you are sluggish.” The court called on the government to prioritize its actions to formulate a plan and implement the Supreme Court’s directions, saying, “The Supreme Court’s observation is a mandate for you, and dictatorship for us.” The court has fixed further hearing in the matter on October 7.
