Schoolteacher among two held for rape of LKG girl in TN | Chennai News – Times of India

TIRUVANNAMALAI: The Polur all-woman police in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvannamalai district have arrested a 51-year-old teacher in a government school and a transport in-charge in a private school, also aged 51, on charges of sexually assaulting a four-year-old LKG girl student.
The issue came to light when the LKG student’s parents took her to Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, for treatment after she had repeatedly complained of irritation in her private parts. The doctors on examination revealed that the girl was subjected to sexual assaults.
When the parents asked her, the girl said a mathematics teacher in a nearby government higher secondary school, who is the husband of the correspondent of the private school where she is studying, had taken her to his room and sexually assaulted her. She said the teacher had sexually assaulted her twice.
There are more than 1,500 students in the coeducational residential school.
The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Polur all-woman police. The police booked the teacher under sections 376AB (punishment for rape of woman under twelve years of age) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 5 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault), 5 (l) (whoever commits penetrative sexual assault on the child more than once or repeatedly), 5 (m) (whoever commits penetrative sexual assault on a child below twelve years) and 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012 and arrested him on Sunday.
Initial inquiries with the teacher revealed that the transport-in-charge in the private school had also sexually assaulted the girl. The police booked the transport-in-charge under same sections of the IPC and Pocso and arrested him.
