MADURAI: A school van ferrying students got stuck in rail under bridge at Ilayarasanendal in Kovilpatti on Thursday evening.
Kovilpatti and surrounding areas received extremely heavy rain in the afternoon. The torrential downpour inundated many parts of the town, and the rail under bridge got flooded.
A private school bus ferrying students attempted to cross the RUB but got stuck. Local residents rushed to the help of the students when they raised an alarm.
According to local residents, the RUB gets flooded during every downpour because it was not provided with proper drains or service roads. Though we have been appealing to the local administration, nothing much has been done on the rail under bridge,” a resident said.
