On February 14, 2020, the apex court had adjourned the plea after it was informed that one of the co-petitioners in the matter has not been allowed by the Registry to argue in person.

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea seeking to declare the Congress manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as improper and against the Model Code of Conduct, terming it as ‘misconceived’.

A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala said there was no merit in the petition.

On February 14, 2020, the apex court had deferred hearing on the petition after it was informed that one of the co-petitioners in the matter has not been allowed by the Registry to argue in person.

The petition, filed by Adarsh ​​Kumar Agarwal and Dr Seema Jain, has sought a direction to declare the Congress manifesto “improper and against the Model Code of Conduct” and to take appropriate action against the party as per law.
