SBI mobile app YONO, net banking, UPI services will remain closed today. details here

state Bank of India (State Bank of India), informed its customers in a tweet of a down period for banking services. In the tweet, the lender has mentioned that the temporary unavailability of services will be due to the maintenance that is being done. In a tweet posted on its official Twitter handle, the lender informed its customers that the services will remain closed between 22:45 hrs on July 16 and 01:15 hrs on July 17. As per the bank’s notice, the down period will last for approximately 150 minutes and select services will be unreachable at this time. These services include Internet Banking, yono, YONO Lite and is i Transaction Services.

The tweet read: “We request our esteemed customers to stay with us as we strive to provide a superior banking experience.”. After the statement, the notice issued with it said: “We will carry out maintenance activities between 22:45 hrs on 16.07.2021 and 01:15 hrs on 17.07.2021 (150 mins). Internet Banking / YONO / YONO Lite / UPI services will not be available during this period. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and request you to join us.”

Though the mentioned banking services will not be available for the mentioned 150 minutes, it is to be noted that these maintenance activities are taking place after peak banking hours. This follows a similar string of maintenance activities conducted by the bank in July and early May. On July 10, SBI announced that the bank would also do such maintenance for a period of 90 minutes. It happened at 22:45 on 10 July and ended at around 00:15 on 11 July. In that period, the same banking services were rendered inaccessible as a result of maintenance. The notice on Twitter issued by SBI reads: “We will carry out maintenance activities between 22:45 hrs on 10.07.2021 and 00:15 hrs on 11.07.2021. Internet Banking / YONO / YONO Lite / UPI will not be available during this period. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and request you to join us.”

In another instance, on May 22 and May 23, 2021, SBI’s internet banking, YONO and YONO Lite were taken offline for maintenance purposes. However, the difference in this scenario was that the RBI was upgrading the National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) system. The upgrade happened on May 22, which was a Saturday after banking hours. This happened again the next day between 00:01 and 14:00.

The bank had issued a notice which read: “RBI will upgrade its NEFT system after the close of business on 22 May 2021. Internet Banking, NEFT services on YONO and YONO Lite will not be available between 00:01 to 14. : 00 on Sunday, 23 May 2021. RTGS services will be available as usual.

A common factor in all these maintenance activities performed by the bank is that it is, for the most part, held after business hours, or on bank holidays, so as to cause as little inconvenience to the customer as possible. Keep these times in mind when planning to grow your online banking business.
