State Bank of India (SBI) made a tweet informing the account holders that the services of the bank will be unavailable for a few hours today. Temporary unavailability was attributed to maintenance activities. In a tweet posted on the official State Bank Of India The Twitter handle informed that due to maintenance, services will not be available for about 90 minutes from July 10 to July 11. During this down period, Internet Banking, YONO, YONO Lite as well as UPI services are listed as inaccessible.
“We request our esteemed customers to stay with us as we strive to provide a superior banking experience,” the tweet read. The notice issued by SBI read as follows: “We will carry out maintenance activities between 22:45 hrs on 10.07.2021 and 00:15 hrs on 11.07.2021. Internet Banking/ yono / YONO Lite / UPI will not be available. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and request you to support us.”
While users will not be able to use these facilities for the above 90 minutes period, the time slots are placed in such a way that this does not happen during peak banking hours, so as to cause as little inconvenience to the customers as possible. . A similar instance occurred on May 22 and May 23, 2021, where internet banking, YONO and YONO Lite services were taken offline for the same maintenance service activities. However, the difference here was that the RBI was undertaking the upgradation of the National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) system. The upgrade took place after the bank’s working hours and closure on Saturday, May 22. This happened again on Sunday, May 23, between 00:01 and 14:00.
The tweet issued on their official Twitter handle read, “RBI will upgrade its NEFT system after the close of business on May 22, 2021. NEFT services on Internet Banking, YONO and YONO Lite will not be available between 00: 01 AM & 14:00 PM on Sunday 23rd May, 2021. RTGS services will be available as usual.
SBI has the largest banking network in the country with over 22,000 branches and 57,899 ATMs. The bank had 85 million net banking customers and 19 million mobile banking customers as of December 2020.
